  1. i just finished authoring my first dvd with dvd-lab. It consisted of 5 subbed anime episodes which i encoded from avi to mpeg2. It worked fine when i tested it in my computer, but when played on my tv i noticed that the sides and top and bottom of the menu and actual episodes were cut off. I have heard it has something to do with overscan, but i am not really sure what that is or how to get rid of it. Im i using the wrong authoring software or did i encode something wrong.

    thanx

  3. Overscan is a normal part of TV. When you capture or edit, don't crop the edges, otherwise the video will be stretched, and what was seen on the edges when you watch it on your computer will be buried in the overscan area. The overscan areas may look like crap, but just remember that you won't see it on your TV.

Also when you create your menus, there's a safe title area to consider. Most authoring programs should have a safe title boxes on the screen to refer to when you're creating your menus and text.
