  1. Hi

I have just buyed a DVD-writer (NEC ND-1300A) and some Ritek DVD+RW discs. I've tried to formatt them, but in all of the softwares i've tried with, none of them worked. I've tried in Alcohol 120½, Nero and DVD Decrypter. When the formatting starts, it says that it's 40 minutes left, but after 1 minute , it's finished, and it doesn't work.

Normally u dont have to format +rw discs since they are format as they are recorded. But if u are planning to use it like a disk drive then the full format is require and not the fast format. when its done in 1 min then the fast format was done and not the full/complete option was used. Try using DVDinfoPro, its freeware and has a lot of nice features for DVD devices.

How and what are u trying to use the disc for. Are u copying data or movies. If its movie bkup, then just use a prog like DVD Shrink or CloneDVD and just let it do its thing. If its for data and u want to use it like a disk drive then a full format is reuire along with a drive letter assign to it so Windows can write to it.

The prob u have could be with that one discs being bad. I had an Optodisk -RW go wankers right out of its shrink wrap. It would not format at all, never completes, just hangs at 99%. Some of my DVD drives see it and some tells me no media inserted. DVDInfo formats fine, Nero does not but the disc regardless was unusable on any device. Now it sit under coffee mugs. Try another disc and see what happens. If you have a good vender then take the discs back for a refund.
