Hi there, experts!![]()
I have the following problem with a Pioneer DVR-510H-S:
My retailer sold this thing to me, after I explicitely asked him for a DVD-Recorder that would also be usable as an external DVD burner for the PC, meaning that I can burn not only Video, but also Data.
I've connected the Recorder via Firewire and when switching it on, WinXP also reports a DV device present. However, no software can yet detect it as a burner. I've tried ROXIO and NERO 6.
Pioneer replied via customer service, saying it's not possible, but I read on some website that one guy connected it and used it with Microsoft Movie Maker.
So, my questions:
- Is there any way to use the DVR-510H-S as an "external burner"?
- If so, how to do it? *desperate*
- Can I create DVD's with the stuff M$ Movie Maker generates?
I know, this is Newbie stuff, but please, folks... I spent a fortune on this thing and I'd really like to know whether I have to put on my "You don't like me when I'm angry"-face and drag it back to the retailer.
Thanks in advance...

What a bummer.... and it's such a nice recorder.... Well, so I'll drag it back.... Where's my green face paint?

instead of taking back, just spend another $100 and get a burner for your computer?

I have connected the 310 and the 510 from computer via firewire or S video and have had no problems with burning to R or RW.Originally Posted by coosy

j_b: How did you do it? Which programs did you use? In my case, neither Roxio, nor Nero recognize the 510 as a DVD device to burn onto. Only for reading FROM the device they acknowledge its presence.
bobinga: well, I guess I'll first bring it back. No point to keep it at this time. Actually, it's also a matter of principle. I don't like being fooled by the retailers here. Happens very often here in SG that they try it.

Maybe you should make sure that everybody understand what do you mean by DATA.Originally Posted by coosy

Editing program is Adobe Premier 6.0. I have a Pinnacle DVD 500 capture card which has a breakout box with the various inputs and outputs. I just connect firewire from breakout box to the 510, play the timeline and hit record on the 510. I'll set the record mode depending on the length of the video. Seems to work very well for me.Originally Posted by coosy
