  1. I posted this before but noone seems to be responding. It seems like I'm the only one with this problem too...

Whenever I try to open up a video source in TMPGEnc, i get one of the following errors:
    "invalid floating point operation"
    or
"illegal floating decimal point calculation order"

I tried downloading the program again, all the various different versions and i still get it.

    any help?

I've had the same problem exactly the same. Later I realized that I overclock my cpu from 1.8 ghz to 1.950ghz I kept asking why everytime I'm encoding to vcd or svcd the error message flashes on the screen, and sometimes it's in the middle or when the encoding session was almost finished.

I tried to experiment and used the normal speed of my processor, then the problem was gone.

Try to figure it out, but in my case, I just used the original cpu speed and problem solved. Cheer up!!!

  3. Thanks for the response.
I am using the normal speed of my processor, 400 mhz but I can't even -get- to the encoding stage. When I go to the video source and browse, after I pick which file I want to convert and click ok, that's when I get the error message.

I don't think it's the speed of my processor that's the problem, i've encoded stuff before. That error message just started popping up recently and I can't get around it.

Anyone else wanna take a stab at it?

  4. If you are trying to open a MPEG file (extension .mpg) then the problem is to do with the VFAPI plug-in. Try going to the Options Menu, Enviromental Options, and select VFAPI plugin. Select the line 'Direct Show Multimedia File Reader' and right click on it. Select Higher Priority.

If your source is an AVI I have heard this is to do with frozen frames but I have not had this problem myself

  5. It could be that TMPGenc requires a P3/athlon/P4. A modern processor. that is, anything 400 mhz is too old to be supported.
