    Hello,
I know there are a lot of these messages posted, but if someone could help me figure out if (A) All of these parts will work together and are the right picks and (B) This computer will be good enough for serious capturing, editing, burning dvds and also some gaming. I am somewhat new to the hardware side and this is my first time actually building a computer from scratch.

Most of the links are to Microcenter, but I plan on shopping around this week for the best price on each part by using pricewatch.

    =======================
    PROCESSOR:
    Pentium 4 3.0Ghz w/ Hyper-Threading

    MOTHERBOARD:
Intel P4 Socket 478 Motherboard with ATA supports Hyper Threading

    GRAPHICS CARD:
    ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder 9800 Pro

    RAM:
1 GigDual Channel PC-3200 DDR SDRAM

    CASE:
Performance II Series File Server Case

I already have a dual format DVD Burner and two hard drives.

I mother board has built in audio, I feel I should still purchase an audio card...correct???

Incase it helps, I will be using Adobe Encore and Premiere along with After Effects, Photoshop, Director and some Flash.

ANY INFO that anyone can provide would be great...Thanks!

Ok .... I'll play your silly game. :P

    http://motherboards.org/

Some nforce boards are picky on their RAM ,but since you have gone the Intel route this is a non issue.

    Will you be doing ...
    A. analog captures
    B. DV camcorder (or DV bridge transfers)
    C. DVD rips
    D. 'backing' up DVD's from the web in the form of mpeg4

Nice Video card but it may be overkill for options B,C,D
1 Ghz RAM is good for bragging rights ,although benefits will be had when using photoshop.

Personally, I would go with a "name" brand motherboard such as "Gigabyte 8INXP " or the like.

    Thanks for the link.
I will be doing a lot of capturing from VHS tapes and television at the start.

I had planned on looking into other motherboards tonight because I worried about not knowing much about the one I had posted and could not find many reviews.

  5. WOW ! ! ! ! !!
Don't buy from that site $$$$$$$$

    RAM go here: www.buyAIB.com
Case go here: www.amamax.com or http://www.xoxide.com
    MOBO's here: www.newegg.com or www.computergeeks.com
These all have free shipping in the US.

or go to www.pricewatch.com like you said to find the best prices for that day.

You're right about the audio too, if it's built in you don't need a card. Some Mobo's now a'days have pretty decent 5.1 or 6.1 surround built in

    Just my .02¢
