  1. I have a problem with Nero 5.5.5.1. I am trying to make a VCD fr an avi file. I drag and drop the file into the Nero window, but when I select "write cd" I get a message saying "not enough memory". It tells me the VCD size would be 502M so its not too big, and under properties it says the file is comliant. I've tried tweaking the cache size but no joy. Running Win2000 by the way, 256 M RAM and plenty (5GB) spare on hard disk. Anyone have any ideas ? thanks gg69

    run scandisk

i've had this problem with an ftp client. it said their was no avalible memory.

turns out a corrupted area of the disk was reporting the free space incorectly.

    scan disk fixed the problem.

  3. I have had the same problem, and I just deleted the file. It was only a 10 meg file. This must be a bug in Nero 5.5.5

  4. Humm I am having the same problem but a scan disk didn't find anything.
I have a mpeg thats like 324x128 so I have nero reencode it and try to burn it but as soon as it starts to burn it stops and the log says not enough memory.

Should I let another program try and reencode it or does someone know a better scan disk program

I don't understand why people would re-encode mpeg files in Nero, when they can use TMPGEnc (it's freeware) which provides a much better MPEG-1 output (excellent MPEG-2 output as well) and provides better options such as filters.

  6. Well mostly because nero will do it for me.
But back to my question do you think if use TMPGEnc to reencode it and try and burn it then that would help the not enought memory problem

  7. Nero will also "fix" a VCD file that for some reason it thinks is not compliant by changing the headers and so on. That was the case for me, the mpeg file was VCD standard, but Nero "fixed" it to make it compliant for Nero. This fix gave the memory error message, and would not burn the file it "fixed" at all.

  9. OK, I'm having the same exact problem. I've read this whole thread, and I still have no idea what the problem is.

I ran scandisk, and every time I get an error message saying "scandisk has restarted ten times due to another program dialing...etc." or something like that. But no other programs are running!

Can someone please give DETAILED directions on possible fixes for this problem? I'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance.

  10. If you have problems creating VideoCD or SuperVideoCD download the new DLL (for Nero 5.5.5.1 only!)of nero web site (www.nero.com) download section.

    File: NeroVCD.zip

    1. Close Nero
    2. Copy the dll into the folder of Nero.exe,
and overwrite the existing VMPEGEnc.dll file.
    3. Start Nero

Now the Nero VCD/SVCD encoder option should work without any problem.

  11. Thanks for the tip above, I just want to clarify:

I originally had the problem with v5.5.5.1 so went back to v5.5.4.0. The process now gets as far as encoding the video (approx 3 hours), but then gives the message "Disk full" (as opposed to "not enough memory&quot. In your message above, is the tip for any particular version of nero, or should it be ok for anything >5.5. Many thanks, suppose I can back up the .dll file and try it anyway, just a pain it takes 3 hours before I know if it wil work !
