  2. I'm new here too, but if you look around the forums, it seems like there is no "best media". I don't remember where I read it on here, but sometimes the 'cheapo' discs are actually good media.. for instance I just got a 100 pack of Arita 4x DVD+R's and they are RICOH discs that burn fine at 8x.

I use DVDShrink / Nero to rip / burn my DVD's. Works pretty good for me. Not sure if you have nero or not but I'm sure someone else will let you know of some free dvd burning programs.

    Good luck!

there really is no "best" way to copy dvds. you just have to experiment with different programs till you find a setup you like. i use dvd shrink to rip the movies, then nero 6.0.0.23 to burn. windows 98 isnt the best OS to be using for this, mainly because the hard drive is formatted to FAT32 which means the files can not be bigger than 1gb. but it still should work fine for you though. and as for media, i think most of the people on this forum will agree that Ritek/Ridata dvd's are the best. they are also pretty cheap as well. you can pick them up at rima.com, meritline.com, or newegg.com (which i use). i have burned over 300 with no problems
