  1. Hi,

    I'm trying to capture to AVI from VHS using an ADVC-100 and MediaStudio Pro 7. Although the program supports DV transfer, it always stops when the filesize reaches about 2.8 gb, even though I've got loads of harddrive space. The video is about 40 minutes long, so I was expecting a file of around 10-12gb.

    I'm on XP and NTFS, so it's not an operating system issue, AFAIK.

    I'm using the MS 1394 device control (the only one that works with the ADVC-100) and the Ulead Directshow capture plugin in MSP7.

    Can anyone throw any light on this?

    If it's a software problem, can anyone recommend any other capture programs that will work with the ADVC-100?

    Thanks for any help.

  2. 1. Please make sure you have downloaded/installed the update patch for Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7.01...

    http://www.ulead.com/tech/msp/msp_ftp.htm

    2. In Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7.01's Video Capture program, click CAPTURE > VIDEO;

    3. After the CAPTURE VIDEO pop-up menu appears, click the ADVANCED tab;

    4. You should see a check box to enable SEAMLESS CAPTURE. Do *not* check this box;

    5. Are you using an OHCI compliant IEEE 1394 (FIREWIRE) PCI card to capture? If so, then you should be able to capture huge DV .avi files - in the TERABYTE size range.

    Hope this helps,

  3. Thanks - I'll install the update to see if it makes any difference, but I'm guessing that capturing large (bigger than 2.8gb) files should have been possible in version 7?

    In the Advanced tab, Seamless Capture has never been checked.

    Yes, I have a OHCI compliant IEEE 1394 card, but not in a PCI slot, it's in an ACR slot - it came with the PC.

    Right, I'm off to Ulead's site for the update.

  4. Hi Jerry,

    I installed the update and it did the trick. It does seem that version 7.0 either didn't support large AVI files properly, or perhaps didn't like the ADVC-100?

    Whatever the real cause, the update seems to have solved the problem.

    Many thanks for your help.
