These coasters are getting expensive. I have yet to make a DVD-R. I have a Que drive, which in Nero reports as a Pioneer DVDR-103. I usually get to around 79% or so and it just fails with SCSI command aborted. I have done the basics - disabled autorun, no background programs (anti-virus, etc.), checked for firmware updates, and loaded aspi32v4.7 (although I read somewhere that I should stick with 4.6, because the 4.7 from adaptecs site is bad). I am not sure what to do next. Anyone throw me a bone !?!

    Thanks in advance.

You might try using rewritable media until you can solve your problem. Also, you might want to edit your post to remove your Nero serial number (if the moderators haven't already done so).

  3. What are you trying to burn on your DVD-R? Are you doing a disc-to-disc copy?

If you're doing a movie backup, you need to rip it and then trasncode it using DVDshrink 3.0 or something like that to reduce the size to fit a DVD-R.

If you say it dies at 3.0gig and you're doing a disc to disc copy of data, try making an image to your hard drive first and burn the image.

I have a DVD format the Video and Audio directories that I made with TMPGEnc DVD author from a SVCD. So, I am just making a DVD data disc and dragging the two directories into it and even burn at the lower speed (1x). Anything else?!

  5. Hi,

well, i have the same problem too. I am using NEC 1300A. I am having problems burning to DVD-R. I have no problem burning to DVD+RW. I am using a mass storage device (USB). I read in this article http://club.cdfreaks.com/archive/topic/86384.html that the problem might be the USB cable, but i am using the original USB. This is my log on Nero :
