After reading a few guides on this site I managed to create a few SVCD's successfully. The quality of the video looks great on my stand-alone DVD-player, but Ihave to say that the audio could be a little better.
I use goldwave to extract the audio from the avi and I use TMPGEnc to encode the videoand audio with the tooLame plug-in.
Is there anyway to improve audio quality,
Thanks.

Once you've extracted your audio, run it through Galaxy or Audacity, whatever, and apply some filters. Normalize and Low-pass are what I usually use (experimenting a LOT lately). Low pass at about 10.5 to get rid of hiss, and normalize about -25db to "quiet" things down if they're getting loudly fuzzy.

"extract the audio from the avi " .. what you are doing is to use tmpgenc to encode the audio and that is the wrong choice. encode the audio seperately using any 1000's of audio encoders and then mutliplex the sound and audio together using tmpgenc or another multiplexer.. to keep the best quality dont change the bitrate eg keep 128k mp3 @ 128k mp2 or ac3 . Also dont decode to wav just go mp3-mp2 or mp3-ac3 using besweet.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.
unfortunately, I have no success with besweet.
I downloaded the program along with the GUI. When I use the AVI for input and MP2 as output ( by selecting mp2_for_svcd ) profile and push the "AVI2MP3" button the log pops up telling me that the AVI-file is wrong format.
Then I tried extracting a WAV first with GoldWave and then convert it to mp2. This was the result:

Since I don;t have any experience with besweet I was wondering if someone could help me with this.
Thanks. -
