    Out of sync what?

AVI or MPEG capture you created yourself?

Somebody else's aborted FUBAR'd divx trainwreck you downloaded somewhere on the 'net?

    What?

Maybe the Magic Movie Genie living inside your computer that mysteriously created these files without telling anybody anything about how he did it just doesn't like you?

I think what sacajaweeda was getting at was that we need considerably more info to help analyzing your problem. Try to include info like:

-What was your source? (you said something about an mpeg from a home movie) Was the home movie an analog tape, dv tape, vcd, etc.

-What method was used to transfer to your harddrive?

-What Authoring software did you use?

The more you tell us the more likely you will get a useable answer.

Best way to fix sync problems is to strip the audio from the file and either stretch or shrink the timeline with a sound editor such as goldwave, this fixs gradual sync problems,to fix constant sync set the delay to plus or minus the time that you estimate that needs to match.
