  1. Hi
I have a few avi file on my computer that use dvix 4 or 5 codec
I play them with windows media player 9. Sometimes when i play them everything work fine, the sound and video is good. But other times after few seconds, the video become all green and i can't watch it anymore. I then close my player and reload the video and everything is back to normal.

Do you know if this issue is a problem with the codec, the avi file itself, the os (windows xp), the avi player or something else. Do you have any suggestion
on what could i do to make it more stable ?

  2. It sounds like a bug in the decoder to me. I would just download ffdshow (new version just came out) over at www.betanews.com; it will handle the decoding of all DivX and Xvid (pretty much any MPEG4 based codec) files. It has proven to be extremely reliable in my experience. The only files it sometimes has problems with are ASF/WMV Windows Media files.

Is this a package of codec ?

  4. No, it's a stand-alone decoder that can handle most types of AVIs.
