  1. Okay I tried my first burn using dvd shrink 2.3, because the instructions on this forum were easier to follow. I followed everything exactly like it said used copy2dvd to burn and got nothing. It seemed to be burning fine then at the end it finished like I thought it would and spat the dvd out.

Well I then tried it on every dvd player in my house and nothing, not even on the computer it was made on. It seems like there is nothing on it but it isn't read as a blank anymore, on my Sony home dvd player it said the disc was dirty

Anyway I am thinking of using the newest shrink, and the Nero I just got see if that helps. The thing is I already have RecordNow which came on the PC and I am wondering if it will cause any conflicts, but before I venture off on my second try any suggestions on what to different would really help

Just in case I am using a Ricoh DVD+RW MP55240A
on WinXP with Memorex DVD+R 4x
and was trying to backup Final Desination 2

Hey I just made a bkup of Final Destination2. Its a flipper disk. One side pan and scan and the other side is widescreen with AC3 and DTS sound tracks and all the extra's. The prob I had was DVD Shrink wouldnt shrink (custom ratios) the WS enuf with all the extras to fit so I DVD Decrypte it to HD then used CloneDVD to shrink and burn it to fit. Picture looks OK. The PS copy doesnt need to be shrunk.

    I used

    DVD Decrypter
    CloneDVD

    and bingo, bkup'd

if its a dual stded dvd, it needs to be ripped with dvddecrypter, or smart ripper in file mode, before using dvdshrink

  5. Alright I tried Denver Dawgs method and I got the exact same result has before, the dvd seems to be blank and when I put in my Sony stand alone player it said the disc was dirty, at least this time there was a visible burn circle on the DVD

What the hell could be wrong I mean my PC is brand new, or could it be the burning software because thats twice that I use CopytoDVD and get the same result, any suggestions? I really don't want another expensive ass coaster

Have you checked to see if your dvd player can play R+-? Also, the brand can cause this. Its a trail and error thing with burning. So don't go buy a huge spindle of dvds until you find ones that are compatible with your specific dvd player...Good luck, keep me posted.

  7. My player has a sticker with both DVD-rw/-r and DVD+rw/+r, but even if it was my player they should at least play on my PC which they don't and the Richo drive I am using says DVD+rw and that is the reason I purchased those memorex DVD+r...so i am stuck,

    I knew I should of bought a 3-pack of DVD-rw's for testing

  9. Okay 4 coasters and not a single backup yet, this time I tried using Shrink and the instant copy program, when I try it on my PC it says disk not formatted and won't play in my stand alone either.

Something I've noticed in all the coasters I've made is that it says there is 2KB on the DVD but the entire DVD is taken up. Any suggestions? I am just about ready to give up on backing up movies

  10. Finally! On my fifth try I finally backed up final destination 2. Here was what I did, used DVD Decrypter, shrunk it with DVD shrink 3.1, then finally used ImgTool Classic to create an image or iso of the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders. Then I burned it with decrypter and done it worked! plays everywhere.

Video quality is great and managed to keep both the the DD track and the DTS track. Thx to those who tried to help me
