sittin here watching the grammys on cbs, and im noticing a lot of mistakes. cbs must still be recovering from the super bowl.one point they switched to a camera that was pointed at the floor. another when outkast was announced the winner and the cameras couldnt find them. then just a minute ago, celein dion(sp?) sang kind of off key becuase her mic wasnt working, and her earphone wasnt working, and you could actually hear the director saying "mic up!" or something like that. not trying to be rude or anything, every show has its mistakes. it just seems like theres a lot tonight

I refuse to watch shows like that. If, and I do mean if, I ever get an award for a movie I make or anything I'll refuse to accept it. It's just actors rubbing egos of other actors, and kinda the same for music stars. The only award shows that matter are viewer choice.

i hear ya tgpo. i do like what michael moore did when he won the academy award for his documentary Bowling For Columbine ( btw, thats a VERY awesome documentary and everone should watch it). he was sitting in the audience with the other nominees for best documentary. he told all of them that if he won, he wanted all of them to come up on stage so they could all be congratulated for the hard work that they did. that shows a lot of respect and is one of the reasons why i am a big Michael Moore fan

michael moore is an ass
I'd go furthur, but this is no place to discuss it. -

I've read that before. The numbers behind things isn't what made me love the movie, it's the impact that people are dying and we should do something about it.

Shocker,
Cheers, to you.
I think Michael Moorer might be Bob Guccione in disguise. A true "Hustler", willing to put out anything, take any tragedy, and turn it into a buck.
There are lies, and then there are lies, and he is about the biggest lisr there is.
Hell, I may get you to join the NRA, the tack you're taking.
Some of the others, here, should try getting hold of a .22 and going out to see if they can print them into an inch or less at 25 yards. Actually, they might find that shooting guns is not an evil thing, just that evil people shoot guns at people with no reason, except they want what the other has, and are willing to kill for it.
The same people are rather hesitant to enter a dwelling where the owner may have a firearm.
Here in SW PA, we have had a number of "Home Invasions", ewhere people's homes havge had the doors battered in by thugs, same as England has, but here, the media reports it. In Europe they do not. And when they do, it is the homeowner who is the bad guy, because, "You know, you are not allowed to have a means of self-defense in European nations."
Ah, well, let 'em get you. Fewer fools in the world, the better. Darwin?
Cheers,
George
sitlet,
Click on Shocker's link before you open your mouth and make an ass of yourself. What are you, some kind of brainless Brit? -

Their is a difference between discussing the merits of a documentary and going into a debate about gun control, which we've done many a time and all have ended with the thread being locked. -
Trying not to go into it too far, I will only provide links:
Go see the movie:

An extensive report on the subject of Michael Moore:

I could go on, but you only needed to see my original link to know the truth.
I'll finish with a quote:
Should a 320lbs man advise us on the evils of overconsumption?

Not a political or gun control thing at all.
Moorer is an ass who takes many things out of context, adds what he wants, edits what he wants in or out and gets a Grammy.
And you guys, some of you read it and say, "Wow, I didn't know that."
He did the same with the GM shutdowns, but in that case he had a more wiling audience, the big bad company screwed us. ( It did, but that's neither here nor there.)
You're going by a supposedly unbiased "documentary" and calling it "gospel", and saying what a brilliant man he is. He is an ass, pure and simple, who will twist your words so that you are guilty, vis-a-vis, are you still beating your wife? How do you combat that.?
Hey, go right ahead and lock it. This is my last post in it, so maybe let the rest of the unlearned continue, without me. Kids, what the hell you gonna do with them. They know it all, already.
I'm done with this thread, will read, maybe guffaw a little, but, last post.
Have fun, boys 'n girls,
Cheers,

I'd like to see Ralph Nader as President and Mike Moore as one of his advisers. :P
The world would be a better place...

I think you'll find George that most documentary makers take artistic licence when it comes to the making of the film. If you want proof look at the film making documentary "A tale of two cities" in which two film makers produce a documentary each on the same inner city area. One takes the negative whilst the other deals with the positive yet they both manage to make a convincing arguement.
The only difference, and the amount of outrage or attention, that Bowling for Columbine has recieved is because Moore decided to take a viewpoint that doesn't run parallel with one of your nations largest and most powerful groups, the National Rifle Association.
If Moore had come out in support of the NRA and anti-gun control then you wouldn't have seen one tenth of the attention this matter gets. It also doesn't help when one of your most popular 'news' (term loosely applied) sources is perhaps the most biast and one-sided channels on TV today. -
Cheers to you gmatov
....totally agree.
I have made some good dollars from printing up Micheal Moore targets for the gun range I go to( I make 'em pay a dollar for 'em) -
If you want to see an absolute farce of an awards show try and get hold of a copy of the brits when Sam Fox and Mick Fleetwood presented it. It was so awfull it was hilarious.

It wasn't until I watchd a documentary this year on UK TV about the many, many inaccuracies in that film that I realised how suckered I'd been.
In every case always, always, always hear both sides of the argument.
I was given Moores Bowling for Columbine as a gift and have yet to watch it.
I always loved this guy; he did a series for the BBC (Channel 4) maybe years ago which was absolutley rivetting, specific cases but always standing up for the small guy.
I had to rethink my opinion of him when I read about all the crap in the movie.
I will watch it sooner or later, but as least now I can form my own opinion.
