    Hi,

I've been searching for awhile on this forum...but I couldnt find answers.

I want to transfert some vhs tape on a dvd-r (readable in a dvd player)

1- I capture the vhs tape on my computer using the DVD mpeg specs.

2- I use powerdirector to do some editing of the mpeg file

3- I use another ulead to convert my edited mpeg files into a video_ts folder ...with all the vob files.

    4- Burn with nero.

Is there any better way to do it?
IS there any cut/editing software faster for mpeg DVD specs?

    Thanks!

  2. If you are capturing from VHS directly to DVD Mpeg, the quailty will probably not be the best. Unless of course you have a $50,000 realtime / hardware dedicated MPEG2 capture card. And editing MPEG2 can be very slow.

I suggest capturing your VHS to an AVI format first. (DV-AVI or uncompressed AVI). Editing an AVI file will be faster and easier. After you have edited the footage, then you can use a software compressor to compress to MPEG2. (It will be slow, but you will get really good results if you set the options correctly.)

    No, I'm not using a 50 000$ hardware...

    just a 50$ radeon card.

I know the quality wont be good...but it's old vhs...I want to throw them away

But I'll try capturing to avi...since it's much easier to edit avi

  4. Hello to the members of the forum.
Look guys i am working at professional level.
    1) I am using for transfer the vhs tapes, the advc-100($279-300)price from canopus with excelent results through Pinnacle Studio 8.xx realtime mpeg2encoder.
    2) After i am using for editing the Pinnacle Studio 8.xx and i use for authoring the Unlead Movie Factory Disc Creator V3 and i add music ,chapters, motion menus and it creates straight VIDEO_TS folders for burning or you can choose straight to disc.
Until now to any customer i have given the finish product (weddings, vaptisms and other related) they were full satisfied!!!
    Peace to all of you!!!
