UPS says they left the box at the back door - but I never got it. I called Supermediastore - they say they'll have to file a claim with UPS.

Has anyone out there had a similar experience? How are things supposed to work? Who should be filing, and how long should everything take? I really needed the media, and it would take another week to get it, even if Supermedia store would ship out a replacement - which they won't.

This is so tedious - should I just dispute the charge with my credit card company? Charge disputes require that the customer make a "good faith" effort to work things out with the vendor....

Supermediastore won't reverse the charge, and won't ship a replacement...what to do?

  2. You have to give the sender the chance to properly file the paperwork. If the package required a signature and UPS just left it, then UPS is at fault...unless you had prior word with the UPS driver to just leave the package.

I wouldn't expect supermediastore to just ship product or give a refund just because the receiver says they didn't get it. That's why they use UPS, because they provide proof of delivery.

You have plenty of time to dispute with your credit card company. You have to let your seller do things thru the proper channels, but you can follow up with them. You can order more media, or check the sales tomorrow with Best Buy, Staples, OfficeMax, etc. to get some more media to tide you over until you get another shipment.

OT, but that's what UPS drivers say when they want to steal your stuff, or have damaged it beyond all imagination.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

i had a similar problem when i ordered a car stereo online last year. after waiting 2 weeks after i ordered it, it still had not arrived. i called the company and they called ups. ups said they left it on the front porch at like 2 o'clock. well i got home from school at 230 that day and it wasnt there. i highly doubt it got stolen in a half hour, but anyway, i called the store back and they said they would file a claim with ups to get my money back. it took a couple weeks, but they just sent me a check for the money i paid.

  5. That is why I always keep track by using UPS site and the shipping number on where the darn box is.

I have caught UPS and others delevering it to the wrong address and also waited around all day for it to show up but dissapear back to dispatch some times. And last year had a box that looked like it was run over by a truck! With here is your box sir! Sheech!

Basically after the IPO and there strike they have gotten sloppy.

Oops! I just thought I'd let you guys know that it was FedEx, not UPS.

I was tracking the package, and knew when it was supposed to arrive. Part of the trouble might be that it was delivered a day earlier than they said on tracking sight, so I didn't go looking for it until the next day.

When I originally called FedEx, I asked why they didn't get a signature -- they said leaving the package is "up to the driver's discretion".

Now, I think the driver's discretion was right - I'm in a safe area at the end of a dead-end street. I've received several packages from UPS and FedEx in the past without problem, and I think I only signed one time...they usually do leave the package, and it's usually not a problem.
