  1. Hola...

As a kayaker, i've started filming some of the interesting runs that I and others have had over the past year. I've assembled some of the clips into a 30 minute AVI that looks pretty good on the computer...when I convert it to either VCD or SVCD, the fast motion of many of the scenes causes quite a bit of blockiness.

I've burned probably 20 cds looking for a good match, but many of the advanced settings are a little confusing. Are there any decent "fast motion" templates out there or settings that one can provide me for decent results???

    Here are my stats:

DV captured via Adobe Premiere into NTSC format, converted to AVI which looks very good. (some camera issues, but hey, i'm new.)

I use TMpegEnc to convert to VCD or SVCD and burn with Nero

I've tested all of the applicable templates with TMpegEnc and have video quality that is a little below the standard that I'd prefer....

    Any ideas???

  2. Okay ... try this :

If you have a AVI file then DL the or a "Bitrate Calc"
and calculate the optimal bitrate for a 80/90/99 or 100 mins
    CDR.

Then use TMPGEnc and load for example SVCD NTSC or PAL,

then click on SETTINGS and change a selection from :

    CB to CBR (C.onstant B.it R.ate)

and insert the bitrate you got calculatet by the Bitrate Calc! Change at the bottom of the SETTINGS to "High Quality".

In the next SETTINGS page select "NON-INTERLACE" and set to "1:1 VGA"

That was it. It'll take some hours, but you'll get a HQ SVCD!

    Or look at http://www.vcdhelp.com/svcd.htm

Hopt that I could help you!
