If You want to burn Your DivX, just launch Toast, navigate to "Data" section and on left panel choose "Mac & PC"...Then hit burn..
You dont have to use DivX Doctor...Download DivX codec from www.divx.com/divx/mac/ which will enable You to watch Your DivX in QuickTime... -
On a mac divx files will play without any codex installed if you use Video Lan as your viewing app on the mac you can get it at videolan.org
If you want to just burn the divx file to a cd so you can have it on there as opposed to your HD just do what was mentioned
now if you want to convert the divx to something else, VCD or SVCD or DVD for example, thats when you could use Toast 6's VIDEO tab and have it do the encoding.
cheers -
thanks for your advises! i am now able to watch the film, and I also succeeded in toasting this file on a cd. but i didnīt understand the last part. what exactly am I supposed to do, when I want to convert my file, so that I could watch it in an average dvd-player? what exactly do you mean by toast video table? I already own toast titanium, but after I drag the divx.avi-file into the video sectrion and want to write a dvd it is not possible. what mistake am I making? -
1. what version of toast do you have?
2. do you have a superdrive (burns dvd's?)
If you have toast 6, just drop your divx into toast when its set like this
see the VIDEO tab... and the DROP VIDEO FILES Here?!? -
yes, iīve got a superdrive and yes iīve got toast 6 titanium. and yes i am able to drag the file into the video section, but as soon as i put the dvd in and ask the program to write it, it says it can not write this dvd. the same thing happens to me with a .mov-file. but this time toast decodes the file for hours, before it refuses to actually burn the dvd. i have no i dea why it is not working! -

thanks for being so patient with me! since i am running a german version of toast i can only translate the error-reports in my words.
with one file i have your mentioned problem about being to big, but with the other file, sometimes toast simple refuses to accept the empty dvd, saying it isnīt empty, even when i freshly unwrapped it. but when i keep trying with another dvd it starts running, saying preparing, then decoding and then: THIS DISC COULD HAVE NOT BEEN TOASTED BECAUSE AN ERROR OCCURED: RESULTCODE=-223 -
sounds to me like a compatibility of media problem
what brand of DVDr's are you using?
if possible, I would try to get a different or better brand -
no, i tride different brand of discs. there are brands which will be accepted, but then the error report comes after toast starts the decoding phase.
???????
p.s. i tried apple dvdīs and medion dvdīs -
my suggestion would be to always save to HD as DISK IMAGE rather than clicking the burn option
then burn the image after the encoding
hope this helps -
I just tried this, but the same error report occured. It must have to do something with the codec, I guess, because the error repost always comes shorty after TOAST starts encoding.
By the way, I tried the same with another avi-file and the same thing happened. -
Even this doesnīt work. The same error message appears again at the same moment. I am desperate

hmmm...... file cant be found sounds like
1. your path to the file has some invalid characters in it such as spaces, (!^@&# for example. ensure that the total path to the file is space free
you can check the file path by dragging it into the terminal when its open. it will give you the entire path to the file
example, a divx on my desktop has this path
BigOne/Users/Galactica/Desktop/goodmorningvietnam.avi
notice no spaces or crazy characters
2. it could be that your file is not accessble because you have moved it or deleted it since adding it to toast.
ensure that the file is present, it plays and that you dont have any illegal spaces in its file patch -
okay, my file is called:
The.Gambia.(2003).Cd2.Dvdrip.Xvid.Vite.Sharereacto r.avi
since it seemed pretty long I have now deleted some part and renamed it into gambia.avi, but now got the error message: COULD NOT RECORD THE DISC BECAUSE OF A MAC OS ERROR RESULT CODE= -223 -
well that was certainly one of the problems.
MAC OS error needs to be addressed
1. what OS are you running
2. what type of machine do you have? g3/4 which model
3. have you reparied permissions, defragged HD or run repair cd's lately?
it would be a good idea for you to if you can -
I am running MAC OSX 10.2.8 on a platinum laptop with 40 gigabite. it is a g4. i didnīt run a repair cd yet, but i will try to.

worst case senerio, you may have to reinstall your system
are any other apps affected? or is it just Toast -
Code -223 is a sound manager (invalid compression type) error. Your avi file probably uses a windows-only audio codec (wma seems likely).
I wouldn't recommend reinstalling JUST yet
Good luck!
