I'm living in a dorm room and do not have access to a cable signal. What I'd like to do it be able to pick up broadcast tv and watch it on my computer. What kind of equipment would I need? (the cheaper the better). Thanks!

Well, you could buy a video card with a built in tuner (Check the 'Capture Card' section to the left for suggestions), but it would be a whole lot easier to just use a TV.

On the assumption you already have a vidoe card in your computer without a tv tuner/capture card, what you need is a cheap tv tuner/capture card and an a tv antenna to connect to it.
There are plenty of cheap TV tuner/capture cards out there for about $50. Try clicking on the capture cards link over on the left (https://www.videohelp.com/capturecards) and searching for one with a TV tuner. Lots will show up.
