  1. I noticed that on the odd occasion when I put a DVD-R into my drive that the icon doesn't appear on the desktop but I can play the disc. The only way to make a copy of this disc is to do a direct copy in toast but I like to have the files also backed up on my hard drive. is there any way of extracting the files once copied into toast? or is there another solution to this problem?

    you got it
FILE / SAVE AS DISK IMAGE
the image can then be burned and it can also be mountd later on if you need to access the files again

Just out of curiosity, are you running a screensaver as your desktop background? Some implementations of that cause discs to not be mounted normally. Xback solves that problem, if you still want to run background screensavers.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systčmes, le cas d'application excepté."

  8. Hi, folks.

I've got, roughly, the same problem with a dvd-r that I'd burned a few months ago. Unfortunately I can't get it to play on my iMac 17" G4 running OS 10.2.8. It'll play on my Sony stand alone player, but I need to do some editing of the files, and nothing is recognized by the computer. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Drake
