  1. I have noticed scratches and cracks on my showtime dvd. I have decided to back it up before I cant watch the film at all. It backs up, but VTS 02 01 wont read. I dont really mind as the whole film is still there as is the menu. I have tried DVD shrink and instant copy. Instand copy asks for the missing file. So i tried shrink, and re authored it without the special features. When I tried the dsic I could not actually select any menu options when played in my dvd player.

How do I remove the special features and end up with a working disc?

  2. If you've got all the VOB files for the movie, you can use IFOedit on them to recreate the IFO files necessary to have a movie only disc that will play no problems.

You may then need to run it through DVD Shrink or something to get the file sizes down, or, alternatively, strip any streams you won't use (like alternative languages, commentaries, subtitles) while in IFOedit and see if that then fits without any further work.

  4. What's the point if you're not going to keep the special features ?

You're just making life more difficult for yourself, things like subtitles can be accessed by your remote without the need for menus.

  5. Cos im already admitting defeat by losing the features, If im gonna lose the menus as well I might as well just get a version off kazaa or something

I just want the title menu, it to work, and the movie, thats all.

  6. Yes, so I repeat my original question, what use is a menu if nothing on it works ?

Surely all you need is to put the disc in a player and it actually play. I just totally fail to see the point of retaining a menu to all the extras and the like when they're not on the disc - do you really spend that long looking at menus in the first place ?

Downloading from Kazaa would be illegal, BTW. It's not a good idea to mention things like that in these forums.
