  1. I don't know why its skipping when I'm playing it on my DVD player? Does the speed of writing matter? I tried burning it at 32x but that didnt work. I will try to burn at 4x and see how that goes. Is there something I need to do? what am I doing wrong?

A whole load of reasons , this seems to happen with burnt SVCD's it seems some players have problems keeping up with the higher bitrates of SVCD's especially when trying to read off CD-R's however even on cheap players the skips should be very minimal . All that can be suggested is to slightly lower the maximum bitrate of the SVCD minimising the problem .

  5. I burned several svcd and xsvcd and I noticed that media burned too fast and to high a bit rate can cause a dvd player to jump and have blocking in the playback.

Slow down your burn should help. Author on a cdrw to test and that way you are not creating coasters while you experiment to find the right combination.

As far as bitrates, check your specs against this boards review/specs of your dvd player. This site is fantastic for researching just what will play on what dvd player.

    Good luck.
