I must have asked this incorrectly before. I am trying to copy/rip/whatever a DVD+RW created on a Philips DVDR 72. The video_ts files is fine, but there is no audio_ts file - instead there is a video_rm file. Ive tried using nero and DVD Decrypter to burn only the files in the video_ts file, but although it takes an hour copying something. I end up with 1 track that is unplayable on the PC/recorder or other player. I've followed a number of threads on this site as well as others, and know that many people are having this problem. THere have been a number of suggestions given but either I can't follow instructions, or it isn't working. ANd I haven't noticed any success stories yet. Can anyone help me please??? Philips has been no help whatsoever. THank you so so so much!

Bless you for that info. I am now trying the method where I copy the files from the disc first to my HD - but I just want to make sure I copy ONLY the files in the video_ts folder - correct? I should just leave the video_rm folder alone - right?? Thanks for the help - I feel one step closer to sanity!

If you just want to make a 1:1 copy of your DVDR disc just use DVD Decrypter for everything:
1) Choose "mode | iso - read", rip ISO image file to HD
2) Choose "mode | iso - write", insert blank media, select image file, and burn
That's it. -
I LOVE YOU! You would not belive how many hours I've spent on this (not to mention how many discs I've ruined); however - there is one minor (hopefully) problem left. The new disc (which is +R) plays with WinDVD, on the original phillips recorder, and on a new DVD player I have. It won't play however, on an older player (yes I have 3 tabletop players - don't ask). The friend I am making these for has an older DVD player and I'm afraid she won't be able to play this. Here's my thought. ... THe original was a finalized DVD+R and I copied it to a DVD+R (which was finalized by DVD Decrypter. Can I choose not to have the program finalize the disc and put it back in my philips recorder to finalize? Or should I use a +RW for the source and write to a +R? (The old player will not read +RW which is why I switched. Thank you so much for your help - now I can get rid of the 7 programs I downloaded and just keep decrypter!

Sounds like the problem you may be having is that you're older DVD players do not support disks DVD+R booktype. If you have a DVD writer that supports bitstting, you can change the booktype of a DVD+R to DVD-ROM. This would probably fix your compatibility problem. To see if your burner supports this feature, look up your burner in
<--- DVD Writers
If it does support this, you should be able to tell it you want the booktype to be DVD-ROM in the burning program. If it doesn't suppot bitsetting and your burner is dual format (+ and -) then try burning it to a DVD-R disk and it should work. If it is a +R only burner without bitsetting, you may be out of luck as far as getting the DVDs to play on these older players. -
but the source disk (which is +R) and all my other +Rs play fine in it. I know +RWs don't work.

Is it the same type/brand of +R media with the same media code? If it is, then you have me stumped...If you used ISO read ISO write in Decrypter, the copy should be the same as the original...Only difference I can think of would be a different brand of media that the player doesn't like.

Yep - exactly the same. I'm actually glad you're stumped, because now I don't feel so stupid!! I'm just going to risk it. Myabe it's time for her to get a new DVD player!! Thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate it.

For anyone with a philips tabletop who was having the same issues as me... or for anyone who is interested... I experimented with all different discs and here's the final solution: Record on the tabletop Philips recorder (+R or +RW), then use decrypter (ISO - read) and burn to a -R (ISO Write). This should work in ALL DVD players. THe Philips recorder will not recognize a blank... but will play a -R that has been finalized! Success - thanks to everyone for their help.
