  1. I am using TMPEG DVD Author to try to build a menu for my disk.

I want to have a main menu with a 'Play Movie' and a 'Chapter menu' button. Easy enough, right?

Well, if you choose one of the pre-set templats in TMPEG DVD Auth to include both of these buttons, you cannot edit the button position, etc unless you create a 'custom' template for the menus- fair enough.

So when you do that (choose to customize menu), there is no choice to have a 'Play Movie' and 'Chapter Menu' button on the Main Menu in the pre-set templates for the main menu that you have to choose from.

Am I missing something glaringly obvious here?

Any tips for my DVD Authoring newb self would be appreciated!

  2. TDA can get pretty close to what you want.
Assumng you have set up one track(movie) with say 4 chapters -
Using custom menu > create new theme, select the following:
    Main menu = Layout 4 (#1)
    Track menu = Layout 6 (#1)
(the remaining 3 can be any choice)

click ok , then select menu display setting and choose auto. Click ok

You should now see main menu screen with "title" at top, "Track 1" with small image of the 1st frame of your movie and "play all" in bottom r/h of screen.

Change the "track 1" text to "Chapters" If you don't want "title" at top, edit it's text and leave blank.

You're stuck with the "Play all" text instead of "Play movie" that you want.
The function is the same, tho.

Now having the drift of things, select "next page" at the bottom and edit to whatever you want for chapter titles, etc.

    Good luck.

  4. Thanks for the replies! I suppose if I could find a jpg button for 'Chapter List' I could use it instead of the thumbnail of the track for the Chapter Button.

I will check out the dvd-lab.
