  1. I'm sure this has been asked before, so please excuse me. I exported a Flash file to AVI and chose the Indeo 3.2 codec for compression. I then used TMPGEnc 2.0 to encode to MPEG. Ifollowed these settings:
    Video:
    352x240, 29.97 fps,1150 kbps
    Audio:
    44khz stereo, MPEG1-Layer 2, 224kbps
Yet when I drag the MPEG into Nero to burn, I get the dreaded non-compliance message:
    "The following problems were found:
'Stream encoding which is invalid for a(S)VCD.'"
Ignoring the message doesn't burn the disc properly and re-encoding it makes it look like s#*t. Any ideas? Should I export the AVI from Flash as uncompressed? Thanks!

  3. Ugh! That didn't work either. I've tried uncompressed as well as four different codecs, all with the same result. . Maybe it has something to do with Flash exporting it at 12fps? Or maybe the original dimensions (1024x76? I've also tried exporting it at various dimensions: 640x480, 352x240, 352x264. Ugh! The project was originally intended for a Flash screen saver (default Flash frame rate is 12fps). I'm at my wit's end!

  4. Oh boy. It looks to be a problem with TMPGEnc2. I just tried to drag an MPEG file (NOT exported from Flash and encoded in TMPGEnc2) into Nero and got the same message. I even re-installed Nero 5.5.4. I had converted this same AVI file in TMPGEnc two weeks ago and had encountered no problems in Nero. Is there a flawless (relatively speaking) encoder out there? I'll pay. I can't afford to lose this much time!

  5. Have you tried resetting the frame rate to 29.97 in your Flash Export? I did this a while back and output to uncompressed video and it worked fine.

Maybe your data rates and audio settings are the problem?

  6. Thanks to all who have replied. I HAVE discovered that Flash is not the problem. It has something to do with Nero and TMPGEnc. AVIs that I converted with TMPEnc and burned with Nero last week, won't work this week. Nero keeps telling me it's a stream problem despite all the settings in TMPGEnc being correct. I HAVE discovered that if I use TMPGEnc to encode, and VCDImager Easy to burn, the VIDEO comes out great! BUT the audio plays back in bits and pieces. (It looks like I am not the only one who has this kind of problem with TMPGEnc: http://www.vcdhelp.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=63817&forum=3)
