Hi,
i guess the subject says it all,
i do 3d animations with 3ds max 6,
for dvd output, i want the best quality possible,
i've tried uncompressed video but it is too big,
and hard to work with it, i've heard that dv video
would be the best, is this true?
because i tried it and the image is good but no dvd movie quality,
please let me know the best way to achieve dvd movie quality.
Thanks.

Invest in a very large HD. I too animate with 3ds max and maya, and if you want DVD quality, it is best to render to a sequence of Targa files and then use video post to output them to an avi.
then, take this (enormous) avi, and render to MPEG2 with any of the following:
TMPGEnc, CCE, MC QT Pro (if you are a mac user too) etc.
hope this helps. -
you can save yourself a step (and some room) there drewson99
....
1. render max stuff to targas
2. load targa seq. into v-dub mod
3. frame serve from v-dub to encoder of choice ...
but otherwise what drewson99 says is correct -- the best way ..."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
nice - you are right, and I would do it if only I was allowed to install Vdub on my PC at school (long story about how we lost the right to do that)
but when I start working at home, you will have saved me a step.
