  1. Hi
I recently put together a new computer, only new parts is the power supply, case, motherboard and ram. Everything else was part of my old system. I've been having audio problems with the line in, connecting my capture card to my audio card. It's a constant crackling sound that can clearly be heard when there is no music or anything playing, but it is still there when things play. This crackling is heard even when i'm not capturing anything. It records onto my captures as well. When I unplug the line that connects the sound card with the cap card the crackle is gone. I never had this problem with my old system, the sound card and capture card are that same ones. A wintvgo and an Audigy2 soundblaster. The power supply is an enermax 431w and the motherboard is an asus p4 800. Would appreciate any help.

  2. Is the cable that connects the sound card to the capture card close to any fan?

  3. nope, it's on the outside too, from line out of the wintv card to line in of the audio. I know it's not any electronic interference either as i've moved the computer to the basement and another room with the same crackling result.

this may sound kinda goofy, but if you wiggle the connector ends (while still plugged in), does the "crackling" sound correspond to the wiggling? I've had this before, and simply unplugging the connector, and maybe blowing out any dirt or dust that might be in contact with it, seems to help. Maybe you have a loose connection??

    just a thought...

  5. I get yea, i had a prob like that with an old speaker set. The crackling sound stays consistent whether I wiggle the plug within/out of the connector. I tried changing the sound and cap card to other pci slots, also blowing dust if any off anything that connects. I also switched the wire that connects the two devices. Still that annoying crackling.

Is the Card sharing any IRQ's with anything else , I have an Audigy 2 and P4P800 and I found the card would have drop out's in the audio if it was installed in certain PCI Slots , it seems the P4P800 has weird IRQ settings

  7. P4P800 has weird IRQ settings
The ASUS P4P800 is fine - it is XP that was sharing your hardware requests.
The process is called shared IRQ and is controlled thru the ACPI - Advanced Configuration and Power Interface. Blame Creative.

    - edit (must be sleepy)

remove audio card from hardware manager, shutdown, reboot without audio card, shutdown, replace audio card & reboot.

  8. On a good note, I found the prob, seems to be my wintvgo cap card. I guess the only thing to do would replace it, I have no other clue on how ot fix the crackling.
