AVI to VHS

Is there any software available, or steps to facilitate an AVI file transfer to VHS tape?

I've had 2 customers request this service. One I told I was of the opinion that it couldn't be done, once the video became encoded AVI there was no way to convert it back to VHS.

Am I right?

If not, then what steps should I take to accomplish this task?

You play it with a computer that has video and audio out, plug that into a VCR and record it. Pretty simple. Many people do basically the same thing so that they can watch AVI video on their TV.
