Hi,

I always use TMPGenc to encode MPG2 files for DVD authoring, but I was wondering if the software I use for capturing footage makes a noticable difference to the quality of the final file, assuming that the encoding settings I use for TMPGenc, are the same.

I sometimes use Vegas to capture digital or VHS, but I have to render the avi before opening it in TMPGenc.

If I use Media studio 6 or 7, I can frameserve the timeline to TMPGenc, which I was told maybe a better quality option because I don't lose any quality by creatingan AVI first.

I also have Canopus's Lets edit which came with the capture card that I use.

I have virtual dub, but I've never really used it.

Would Virtual dub offer a better quality option if I was to capture and render before using TMPGenc ?

Or is there another program that I should take a look at.

Any thoughts appreciated

Cheers
Scott
