  2. WMA is just for audio.

You burn them to a CD just as a data disc, and it will bring up a menu for you so select songs/folders of songs to play. I also think it's possible to mix MP3 and WMA on the same disc.

I'd burn to a CD-RW or DVD-RW to test it beforehand, though.

    Enjoy,

  3. Hi!

WMA is the audio format that Windows Media Player (Microsoft) uses while ripping audio tracks. You can use them as well as mp3 files. There is not a lot of diference betwen them.

You can even record a Audio CD using your wma files and you have not to convert them in another format before.

I have some wma files in my PC and I use Nero 6 to burn them to audio cd's. You can make wma disc's that can be played in some standalone DVD players (compattible with this format).
Nero 6 Expres has an option for wma disc's. Is very useful.

    Have fun !

  4. And you can also use Microsoft's own Windows Media Encoder 9, free from their website, to make your encodes. They have a variety of options, including variable-rate and lossless encoding schemes. Only works on 2000/XP, though.

So far I have been using MS own WMA encoder for audio, freeware, available from Microsoft site. It also has a video capture option, but I never tried it.
Version 7.0, the one I have is a rather primitive capture app, does not even have a pause option, but if you want to convert tapes into audio, it works great.
Roxio's Easy CD creator can create a WMA disks, apparently it puts control tracks so that a CD player could play them. But I play them in one of my old computers from HDD through playlists.
A good 3rd-party WMA app is available at:

Sorry, somehow the link got chopped. I tried to resubmit, but it was the same story in preview. I will have to separate it with ENTER in order to display the whole thing. You can reassemble it if you want to have a look at that site.
    Here it is again:

  7. Most standalones can't play encrypted or DRM WMA such as legally downloaded songs.
