  1. I purchased datavideo's mpg 100 pro last week.
The first video I'd captured, the quality was good, A/V sync was good too(& it's in mpg1 format!!). Problem found when i tried to capture videos from trs(Threat Response Solution). there was nothing I could see on the screen. blank, sometimes there were some bad video frames.(scrambled colors, etc). the manufacturer said that it's a/v sync problem so i got to buy datavideo timebase corrector(TBC). Is this true? ...just wanna know if i've to dump this product
thanks for your reply, any replies please..

  2. It depends on how bad the quality of the videos are. If the sync pulses are not consistant coming from the video tape then the MPG100 does not know how or what to capture and so blanks the video out until it receives good sync. If it didn't then there would be audio and video sync errors.
The TBC would of course solve this problem. Different capture cards look for different levels of sync and also lock to different portions of the sync so some capture cards do a better job than others. In most cases the more you pay for a capture card the better it handles loss of sync.
