I have some PMD's i made for a school project. I am wondering how much it would cost to have them printed professionally.
THere are 20 pages, all are 4 color pages.
Kinkos are profidious bastards and I refuse to go there.
Plus i want it on kinna nice glossy paper but not soo glossy it's photo paper.

I'll second that opinion about Kinko's. What a bunch of incompetent, lazy morons.
I've had more disasters there than anywhere else in my entire life. I bought a photo printer just so I wouldn't have to take my dvd inserts there anymore. Best investment I've made in a long time!

Hey, it ever occur to you that someone here works for Kinko's?
As far as Kinko's goes if you turn those PageMaker files into PDFs before bringing them in there it's hard to mess them up. Suggest printing them on 28# white if you're printing in color, it's what we use standard in our color printers in my district. Whether you get someone who knows what they're doing there or not is hit or miss, but the same goes for any of the other copy shops.
Also remember that I've dealt with so many people who think they know digital printing and really don't have a clue. Kinko's is a corporate entity and as such we are forced to follow many silly rules. One such rule is that everything on disc that goes through our stores need to be converted to PDF before printing. Some stores charge a fee if the document is not in PDF format (like the ones I work at). PDF is probably the best thing to happen to the digital printing industry so do everyone a favor and convert those to PDF before doing anything else with them. And if you can't convert them to PDF...
Save yourself the trouble of going into the Kinko's branch to drop off your job and possibly dealing with an idiot at the counter and just send it to your local branch online:
https://docstore.kinkos.com/
After placing the order call that store and make sure it's been received and find out how long it will take them to do it. Some of the bigger stores it may take a while to print your order as it's first-come, first-serve and we only have so many printers. If you can convert to PDF that's all the better. Or bring it in and get on a rental computer and print it out yourself. Shouldn't take too long if you're just printing.
I don't particularly like most of the rules we're forced to follow but then it's just a job -
I dont like kinkos because i went there to print something n they didn't post anything about manually changing the printer settings and when i printed, everything was in bw and they told me i was out of luck.

No sympathy from me, either. They've screwed me over more times than I can count. Luckily I found another little copy shop that'll do just what I want without all the crap.
If it works for you, great. But not where I live! -
I second the PDF statements.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
No Staples or Officemax?
And since you now know that you must change settings to get color, do you really care if you go to Kinkos?Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
Office Max
Office Depot
Staples
Sir Speedy
Instyprints
Those are our biggest competitors. See if they're any more incompetent. Like I said it all depends on who's working any place you go to.
And no offense, but if you didn't think to check printer settings before printing you should be paying someone else to print it for you. -
yeah i did feel kinna dumb, but then again my printer at home is both black and color it has both in it
-
Well there should have been a little booklet sitting next to each computer explaining the finer points of printing at Kinko's so if that wasn't there then the branch's computer specialist is partly to blame.
Did you ever get these printed out? I forgot to mention the UPS Store as another alternate, though I don't think they do digital printing, just copies. I could be wrong though, I don't really shop the competition.
