  1. When I try to convert a Xvid videofile to MPEG1 (or 2) I first rip the sound off and store it as WAV...
Second I try TMPGEnc where I use the videofile and the WAV file....
When it is all done the sound of the video is all out of sync.

Could someone make or point to a noobguide how to do this correct?
I have tried for several weeks now....

What I miss is a guide on how to convert the videofile to MPEG (I know there is one but it is difficult).

When I am done with converting I use a program called DVD Architect wich I am happy with.. but it won't use other files than MPEG....

    In advance... thanks.

  2. first of all does the sound play in sync when played as an xvid?

i think when you strip the sound from the Xvid to wav its best to use virtualdub i am told because this can tell you if there is a delay in the sound (so i am told....never used it myself)

what i do is load Xvid into TMPG.........

when you get to the screen that lets you choose 'other settings' click on this and click on 'source range'.

now choose a part where people are speaking and press the 'mark in' button.......the move the FFW arrow >> so its 1 min ahead and press the 'mark out' button.

now you have set a range for testing the sync.

on that same screen is an audio correct setting.........try -400 and encode it at that setting.

play back clip to see if sound is in sync.

if not add or subtract from -400 to get it right.

it takes less than a min for each try.

when you have the correct delay set make sure you select the full frames/range again and encode.

    hope this helps m8

  3. Thanks for the reply...

Yes first I did use Virtualdub to rip the sound into a WAV... second I use
    TMPGEnc to convert....
and then to make a DVD with menu I use DVD Architect to create it.
Takes forever and ever but it workes great and I can play the DVD's with a PS2 if I want to.

I just managed to try alittle of what you did say as I had to go to work but yeah it seems like I just have to try myself down to see what workes out best.
The sound on the Xvid file when I play that one (the video that is) well it workes out fine, no delay in the sound.
When I first tried to convert it the sound looked alright, but then fell out of sync for some reason.

Looked like I could hear things happen before I saw them.
So the sound was alittle ahead of things.
