problem playing disc on stand alone dvd player

Can anybody help?
I have burned a movie onto disc,verbatim[dvd-r 4.7gb]using deep burner.This plays fine on my computer[sony vaio ]but when i play it on my stand alone dvd player,a sony[dup/ns305]a message appears saying [cannot play this disc]Can you advise me of the correct disc's to buy that would be compatible to play on my stand alone dvd player.
Any info would be received gratefully.

Check your player in the compatibility chart on the left. Sonys are notorious for not liking burnt disks.

I also had the same problem, but I always burn with CloneDVD and never had a problem now. I use Ritek 4x DVD-r. EVen if DVDShrink is used to create the DVD files, I still use Clone to burn, not Nero.

My bro has a sony and its picky as hell with media.
Can you try in a friends dvd player or on a ps2 or something to see if it works.
You just gotta try and work through all the possibilities. If it dont play on any player try the same discs burned with a different application. If it plays on another player then the sony may not like that media...trial and error until you find what works for you i am afraid.

Oh and for the record my bros machine is an ns300. We have used ritek and bulkpak burned with nero 6 with 100% success rate..but LONGTEN001 media would not play reliably at all.
