  1. Hi

I am pretty new to all of this & hope I have put this question in the right forum !

Anyway I have a Panasonic DMR E50 and a Hitachi VCR I want to copy Video's to DVD-R. The problem I have is that the "Easy" way of doing this is use the cable with yellow, red & white connectors on (sorry don't know the Tech term for it) but my video only has White & Red "Holes"

I was told that I can do it by Scart lead, but to make matters & more confusing I have a Sky Box in the equation as well, which means I have no spare scart sockets left !

Is it a Scart Adaptor that I need and how do I set it all up so that I can still record :

    TV/SKY to DVD
    TV/SKY to VCR

and now be able to record

    DVD to VCR
    VCR to DVD

    Thanks in advance

  2. another problem you are going to have (if you are talking about commercial VHS tapes) is macrovision. The E50 (and many other set top dvd recorders) will not allow you to copy material that is macrovisioned.

Ain't tried it, but you may have the same problem going from dvd to vhs as well....

If you are talking home movies, you have component (I always confuse the names composite and component) ins and outs on your panny so all you have to do is run it from the vcr out to the dvd recorder in and you are all set, unless I am missing something.

The reason your VCR has only a yellow and white RCA (composite) connectors is that your VCR in not stereo, but is mono (one channel of sound). You can still record your tapes, but your DVD will not be in true stereo. But if you tapes were recorded with the same VCR, they are in mono anyway.
