  1. I have recently installed a WinFast VC100 XP video capture card in my PC with no installation problems and no visible conflicts etc. Though the problem I seem to be having at the moment is when I press the 'STOP' capturing button on the capturing software, the program freezes/stops responding. This happens on all capturing software I have used and I am forced to reboot my PC.
    I have updated my BIOS and I have the lastest drivers also. I have tried numerous capture settings, but all my efforts are wasted. I've sent numerous e-mails to the manufacturer over the last week, but very dissapointed that I haven't had any response from them.
    I've also posted this very question around numerous web-sites but without any success and I feel that this site is my last cry for help.

    If anyone has had this problem and knows of a solution, please help!

    ---

    I am using the set-up below, should this be of help:

    OS = Windows XP Home Edition
    Motherboard = ASUS A7N8X
    Processor = Athlon XP 2700+
    Memory = 512MB
    Graphics Card = ASUS GeForce Ti4200 128MB AGP X8

    Yours greatfully...

    It is a drivers issue for sure....

    For example, with my Asus 7700 on a Via Chipset motherboard and w2k as OS: Virtualdub works only if a signal is detected - and I don't mean a blue screen here.

    Sound like driver problems , I have similar nonsense with a Aver Media DVB-T Card which will not work in my current system but will work on another system I have without any problems , I can only surmise that you should perhaps check that the card is not attempting to share IRQ's with anything else as this can be an issue

    I have no idea whether this was an intentional 'star wars' joke (thread title), but thanks for making me smile

    First time I've seen a thread title that violates the AUP but was still worth it

  9. Firstly, I have changed the title of the thread. I just read through the AUP and realised my mistake...Appologies!

    Good news though! I have managed to get my capture card working, all thanx to a long awaited response from the manufacturer. But, I have one more little snag. I have installed a nvidia wdm video capture driver that the manufacturer recommended me to install, but it has a yellow exclamation sign and the windows error code 10 "this device will not work properly" or words to that effect. I've installed the latest drivers, but still having the same outcome.
    Everything is working so it seems, but just wondering how to fix the little drive problem!

    Thanx again!

    Not quite sure what you are running when you get the error, but remember VDub is VFW and you have WDM drivers. Try VirtualVCR, great program. And just a little heads-up, you might get some audio sync issues. Don't fret, lot's of different things to get it to work.

  11. Hey! thanx thegig.
    When you say you're actually not sure what I'm running, how do you mean ?
    The error appears when I look into my Device Manager and the yellow exclamation is at the side, then when I right click then properties, the error message is there.
    Doesnt appear to be affecting my PC though..

    I'm quite the virgin when it comes to video capturing... :P
    In the email from the manufacturer, It was recommended I install these WDM drivers which appear to be nvidia based and the latest WinFast PVR capture program.

    Is this a fresh install? Did you happen to load DirectX after you loaded your drivers? Is the exclamation on the Video part of your device? I know of quite a few people that have been bitten by DirectX. You might want to try the BTWINCAP program to unistall any drivers, DON"T LOAD THE BTWINCAP if you want to use the drivers from the manufacturer, then try reinstalling your WDM drivers.

  13. SteMan:

    1.Why you install NVIDIA WDM driver for VC100 XP ?
    The NVIDIA WDM driver is for VIVO function of NVIDIA graphics card.
    (In your case is ASUS GeForce Ti4200 128MB AGP X8)
    As I know, the VC100 XP is made of Leadtek, not ASUS.

    2. It is normal if your ASUS GeForce Ti4200 does not support VIVO.

  14. Well exactly...Why did the manufacturer tell me to install the WDM nvidia driver ?
    You'll be glad to know, I have uninstalled this problem driver, installed the latest drivers and software for the WinFast card and all is fine with my capture card and I am now successfully capturing my old home videos.

    Thanx for all your responses and help!
