  1. Hey all, well I'm running Panther and have followed all the steps I could find. I start the DVD with the macDVD player let it play for a few minutes etc. etc. However whenever I try to start DVDBackup it pop-ups in my dock for 1/2 sec then disappears. Has anyone ever come across this or can anyone give me any advice?

    Thanks for any help!

You can always try MacTheRipper . . . no need to play the DVD with DVD Player before ripping. Here's the thread.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

  3. You are probably running Stuffit 8.0, which is buggy and doesn't unstuff executables with the right permissions. Update to Stuffit 8.02 and this problem should go away. Here is the link:

While this may be the problem there are some people who updated to Stuffit 8.0.2 at the same time as udating to Panther (me for one) for whom DVDBackup no longer works. I just switched to 0sex (and now to MactheRipper as well ). Byebye DVDBackup.

  5. Thanks everyone for all the info!!

Mac the Ripper works great and updating to Stuffit 8.0.2 worked like a charm. Now DVDbackup and DVD2one all work!

    Thanks again!

  6. You can eliminate a lot of the problems of DVDBackup under Panther if you simply leave Apple DVD Player running in the background while you rip your DVD. You don't have to actually play the DVD in the player application, just have the player running. You'll find this eliminates all this nonsense about having to play each chapter, etc.

My guess is that Apple changed the DVD drive authentication in the player application under Panther.
