Newbie Here wondering about media differences

I have a NEC 2500 arriving on Friday and am looking to find some media that will play on both my PS2 and my Pioneer AVH-7500(in car DVD player) I realize that I will need DVD-R(W) but is media media or is there certain kinds I should try first?

if your burner only burns DVD-R(W) then thats the media you should get. I know that PS2 accepts DVD-R media. I use the verbatim brand DVD-R and it plays great on my PS2.
You should check the DVD Player section to see what others have to say about your dvd player and check the DVD writers section to see what dvd media best works with your burner

It is a brand new dual format 8x burner. But the PS2 and my in-dash dvd player both take dvd-r(w) so that is why I am using "-" Just wondering though if certain media is better

Use Verbatim DVD-R 4X, I have this writer and the discs will burn at 8x, though 6x seems to be a more stable speed with these discs.

Taiyo-Yuden DVD-R discs are the best that you can buy. They are 4x speed and burn very well and are very compatable. The best darn DVD-R media if you ask me and better than any DVD+R media.

The FUJI 10-packs that you can get at BEST BUY say MADE IN JAPAN and are Taiyo-Yuden brand discs (with FUJI labels). But not all FUJI DVD-R packs say MADE IN JAPAN and only the MADE IN JAPAN are the Taiyo-Yuden brand.

So I would buy a 10-pack and make sure it works out for you.

In the future you can buy 4x DVD-R Taiyo-Yuden brand discs direct on-line from such places as RIMA.COM

These are not the cheapest discs by far they are probably the most expensive but they WORK without FAIL and trust me NOTHING is more annoying than spending money on the cheaper media only to have issues with burning and read errors and compatability etc.
