  1. I've been following Sefy's guide to the T with SmartRipper and the ripped .vob files that SmartRipper creates are all mixed up with different languages and some with commentary tracks..wtf?

has anybody sucessfully ripped this DVD and how? I tried other DVDdecryptors and the results is always the same...Help!

I want to create a mpeg1 version using TMPGEnc but I can't even get passed SmartRipper as the files are screwed up

The movie files for phantom menace are under vts_06, title1, angle1 and all chapters (1 to 51)? this is what I chose to rip and yet when played back from the HD I get repeating chapters, different languages, etc...

    Help!!!

  5. You in luck, did it tonight I used smartripper (It also worked with vstrip), make sure you choose movie mode, go to vts_0_1, title 1 and select angle 1. Then press start (make sure that angle 1 is highlighted). If it doesn't work for you make sure that you have the latest version. If this fails go to http://www.doom9.org and read his vstrip guide, then use it.

  6. Also, DO NOT USE DVDDecryptor, you need a ripper that can do IFO parsign (unless your using flask). Thus Smartripper and VStrip are your only choices, or you'll get the intro text in german

  7. I believe I got it now with SmartRipper...here's what I changed from Sefy's dvd rip guide

in the [Key - Check] setting use "once" instead of "every vob-file" or "every chapter" etc...the rip is now perfect

now its DVD2AVI time and then TMPGEnc...hopefully everything will be ok!

    thanks everyone

  8. raven_:

I think you'll find out soon enough that you've ran into the same problem that I did with encoding this movie. The problem is that I can't encode (hard encoding) the subtitles that appear only in a few scenes where an alien speaks in his own language. Using Vobsub, I would only be able to make an encoding that had subtitles running thoughout the movie, which is not what I want (and not what you'd want either I suspect).

If you find a solution could you keep us posted. The same goes to anyone who has made a successful rip of this movie. THX

  9. raven_ can i ask u a question did u play the vobs file or did u preview it with dvd2avi?? becuase if u play a movie's vob files with a player thats supports it..it is normal to have diffrent languages in diffrent vobs file the program that extracts the english lunguage is dvd2avi but if u previewed it with dvd2avi and u get repeating chapters than the vob files are really focked up

  10. pinoy2201,

you have a good point. Initially, I was playing back the vobs with either PowerDVD or just through Media Player and this is where I noticed the repeating chapters and different languages. I didn't know that DVD2AVI only extracts the english tracks!

    so many settings..so little time

btw, does TMPGEnc really provide the best quality mpeg1 vcd's?

  11. yes it does ...it is the king for converting mpeg1 vcd file the second one is panasonic mpeg1 encoder which it takes longer to encode....suggesttion go download my template for TMPGenc it gives great quality and please tell me if u like it and tell me what i have to inprove on..its at the tools section.. another suggestion to make ur sound better encode the wave to mpeg layer 2 with scmpx it can be put has an external encoder for TMPGenc just go to option, enviormental seting.external tool and select layer 2 and browse for SCMPX.exe i hoped i help....

oo yea read this guide this what the audio seting for dvd2avi should be: http://www.flexion.org/video/DVDConv/DVD2AVI/dvd2avi-audio/
