  1. Here's a newbie post for ya. I dont know what format my video file is in. I recently acquired a 4 gig folder with the following files in it:

    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB
    VTS_01_3.VOB
    VTS_01_4.VOB
    VTS_01_5.VOB

This folder was meant to contain a movie, and I assume that it does. How can I take these files and make them into a watchable movie? (avi, svcd, mpg, etc) Thanks a lot for any help.

  2. That looks like the structure of a DVD-Video file folder called VIDEO_TS.

  4. Or you could burn it on a DVD+R disc. Why limit your choices?

    chrsiservices,
Yup as the others have said it sure looks like a dvd folder. But before I would try burning that folder I would try to use a software player like PowerDVD to be sure. You will have to specifically load the VIDEO_TS.IFO file into powerdvd. it is under the menu selection for something like "open up dvd media on hdd."
If it plays fine, then you can be reasonably sure it will play when you burn it to dvd.

  6. Everybody is right. It is a DVD. But what I think everybody missed is the fact that you want to make it into a movie that you can watch on your computer, and you can with someyhing like PowerDVD or any other make DVDplayer program, but if you want to make a AVI file you would need something like DVDx, AutoGardianKnot or the like. Have a look at https://www.videohelp.com/convert > how to rip DVD to AVI/DivX for best results...[/url]

or use dvd2svcd .. but he said he just wanted to watch it -- not specifically convert it to avi or svcd

  8. Holy crap. Six responses in..... 30 minutes??? Wow fast guys. Yeah PowerDVD plays it fine, both the VIDEO_TS.IFO and the VTS_01_0.IFO. I'll go from there to burning/converting or whatever. THanks a lot guys and thanks again for the burning fast response time!

  9. True, and I agree. But the only reason for wanting to convert it to something like AVI is the ease of making Windows play the movie for you without additional software, like if you do not have a DVD player program.

Some standalone players might complain if there is not an empty AUDIO_TS folder that is off of the root level of the DVD.
