  1. Hi, folks, I have a surprise to share with you:

I just bought myself a NEW DVD driver!
    WHOO-HOO!

I opened WinXP this morning to start working and , bang!, on the window of "my computer" where I usually have 2 I have 3, count them, 3 DVD drives, an "e", a "f" and a "g".

I donīt remember going out and buying this DVD drive.
I donīt remember even opening the case and installing it, but itīs right there.
Either the computer has been promenading itself when Iīm asleep or I have a bug in my system.

Iīm presently divided between "really worried" and "Oh-my-god! Iīve got a Bug! worried", but Iīd like your medical opinion first on which should I lean toward:

    How worried should I be?

When you play it forward, it installs windows."

  2. You don't have any virtual drives mouned do you that you may have forgotten about (daemon tools etc). What happens if you click on the icon for the drive.

  3. I donīt think I have any virtual drives, this is a relativelly brand new machine and I havenīt had time to tweak inside the hood yet.
When I click this new "G" drive, a window pops up asking me to insert a disk in it.... which of course I canīt since this drive doesnīt exist.

With all the virus worries these last few days, even though I donīt open attachments ever, it started to worry me.

I've seen this prob b4 on HP machines at work - but clicking on any of the drive letter would show the contents ok

I remember reading something about this on the MS Knowledge Base
sorry can't remember what the fix was

  5. Thanks, I think iīve solved it.

I went to device manager and deleted it.

Now Iīm not sure whether I made a HUGE mistake because the driveīs name, turns out, was Nero Imagesomething-something.

Nero happens to be the program I use for my CD/DVD burning needs, so chances are I may have wrecked something there, while teaking under the hood.

    Time will tell..........

  6. Nero has it's own virtual drive, you should probably go to Nero ImageDrive settings and disable it from there, even if you already deleted it.

  7. I have one of those for my InstantCD software.

Whenever you use an ISO as a normal CD, it pretends it's in that drive.
