I have not gotten VCD Builders chapter points to work.
I've too scratched my head in frustration over it.

Here is the workaround I use:
Rather than use one long MPEG-1 file of say 650MB,
I go back to my source video, and split it where
I want in QT PRO 6, MANUALLY creating the chapter markers this
way. Then I export each smaller QT file as MPEG-1 (Toast VCD).

I then open VCD Builder, and select from templates,
a new "Menu and 1 Sequence window".
I then gather the small MPEGs in sequential order
(having named them Movie00.mpeg, Movie01.mpg, etc)
and drag them to the Sequence 1 window ( on the right).
I then create a .jpg for my Menu Splash and place on the left.

    I then burn in Toast.

When inserting into my standalone RCA Player,
the individual MPEGs show as Chapters, and I can navigate to them by using the BACK and FWD buttons on my remote. They also play
fine uninterrupted as one long movie.

  3. VCD Builder 1.1.1 works for me but at least for long MPEGs you must note one thing:

VCD Builder 1.1.1's time scale reaches only about 25 minutes because it uses an old version of mpgtx. After I replaced it with a new version of mpgtx, chapter markes in my XSVCDs have worked OK.

With my Pioneer 444 I have to press the Play-button to get to the XSVCD's Menu image, then I press Play again to start the video and Next/Previous-buttons to skip to other chapters.

It is for a while at:

    http://www.saunalahti.fi/~shmhav/mpgtx.sit

(I don't know if it actually the lates version but it works for me).

Hold down the control key and click on the VCD Builder application icon. Select "Show Package Contents". Navigate down to "Contents/Resources/". Replace the old "mpgtx" file there with the new one. You may also have to issue the command "chmod u+x mpgtx" in the terminal to give mpgtx the proper permissions.

BTW, I got the file form VCD Builder author Johan Lindström almost a year ago and he was going to include it in the next version. Maybe you should contact him and ask whether he has forgotten this.

  6. Hello
A response to an old post, I know...

I then gather the small MPEGs in sequential order (having named them Movie00.mpeg, Movie01.mpg, etc) and drag them to the Sequence 1 window ( on the right). I then create a .jpg for my Menu Splash and place on the left.
    ...

They also play fine uninterrupted as one long movie.
Would this really play uninterrupted? Wouldn't there be a brief hiccup as the player goes from one video file to another??

    thanks

    define 'hiccup".
A very noticable pause or a near seamless "bump"
    or "stutter"?

The majority of those I have done fall into the latter category, if not properly edited. but if your breaks in
your mpgs are good, ie. no severe jump cuts,
or overlapping seconds , then the stutter is hardly noticable.

  8. Thank you for the elaboration Terry! A stutter does fall within my "hiccup" definition.
Such things are noticeable to me when viewing videos of concert recordings, which is why I asked.

    cheers!
