  1. I've had my dvd burner for about a month and burned 15+ dvd's with no trouble. All of a sudden everyone I burn does not work!

I've tried rebooting, shutting completely down. I've tried burning with Nero 6, DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink 3.1, nothing seems to work now.

I get the following error when trying to read the disk with DVD Decrypter, any help would be great. Thanks.

Have you tried to just drag and drop the data off the disc to your hd using windows explorer. If you can't read the whole disc then it may point to a particular data error on the disc. If it works then it's not the drive or the media so you can start looking at a program driver conflict from something you installed recently.
    Take it step by step.

  4. Hate to state the obvious, but it looks like your burner has crapped out. Are you able to read CDs or any other media?

  5. I still have no trouble reading disks. No problems ripping and playing from the HD.

    Plankton:
I'm trying to better understand and isolate your problem. You say everyone you burn does not work. Does that mean that the DVD's don't play or that they are all corrupted. How many discs are actually causing this read error? If more than 1, are you using different data (a different movie) or are you retrying the same movie each time? If it's just 1 then it's just an isolated bad media. The rest could be a bad process.

Can you copy or read discs that you know to be good such as original DVD or discs that you wrote when you first got the burner?

Next time try to write a data disc with a lots of mixed sized files but stay between 1 gig to just around 4 gigs. Then try to copy all the files back to your hd. If you have no problems with this then the burner is fine and you need to examine your DVD creation steps.

Another point: Have you changed the media type, installed new burner apps or flashed your firmware lately?

  7. Thanks for th replies, I tried a differnt media (imation) and it works again. Very strange that the first half of my other brand worked and the other half did not.

    Thanks again for your help.

I've seen this on Optodisc media: Went through 50 of a 100 pack without a coaster - then hit nothing but coasters; by then, it was too late to return it to the vendor. No errors during burning - using Nero, Bs, TDA or DVDLab; the discs were just crappy. BeAlls, Verbatims, Taiyo Yudens worked fine since.

The code printed on the media was the same - I can't get the media code with my panny drive, so I can't dig further into it.

    my two cents

A pack of Optodisc did that on me too. The first half burned good then coasters. . . I think they put the good disk on the top of the pile

I'm glad it wasn't just me. I certainly read media reviews before buying any DVDr media.
