  1. I encoeed some mpeg 2 elementery streams with tmpgenc, and they do not have a sequence header for the gops.

Is there a setting in tmpgenc I missed? All the files are bunk.

Will restream repairt hem for me, and what setting do I have to make so they will hav a valid sequence header in the first place?

  2. There is a setting under GOP structure that should be selected - "output interval of sequence header". Select "1".

  3. You're my hero thx so much!
this was an avi capture huffyuv, an when I got my good elementery stream made, i deleted the source!
I read and saw what I did wrong so i know for the future, and I tried restream but it can't do it.
A simple merge cut did the trick.
BTW the link you posted was for vcd, but it worked for my mpeg 2 files just fine.

  4. Glad it worked for you; tne "merge and cut" is a neat little maneuver and has saved me a number of times.

Thanks for pointing out that the link referred to VCD/Mpeg1 - I forgot to mention you needed to change Mpeg1 to Mpeg2 - obviously you it figured out.

    Hi duhmez,

    I find this guide:

    http://dvd-hq.info/Compression.html

...very useful for pretty much all of the settings in TMPGEnc (including GOPs). It may seem daunting at first, but that's only coz there's a lot there and it's well explained detail.

Read it carefully, as there are some useful pointers that can be missed if you skim read.

    Hope that helps.

I always load the dvd template when I make a DVD and then I only make changes to stuff that I know doesn't effect the dvd standard...or else I read about it first.
