  1. Using NEC ND1300 writer I produced several coasters after a succesful burn session. When a drive doesn't recognise media, even a DVD/RW becomes worthless.
First I changed firmware, without result. Then I changed Nashua DVD's for Maxell. Again, no result. I tried several applications. Pinnacles Instant CD gave most trouble. I prefere copying from images made from mpeg files or commercial DVD's (tried different formats [iso, nrg, pdi] but can't see any connection with the problem). Nero gave same problem but less frequent.
Yesterday a DVD wasn't recognised by the standalone DVD-player, a very tolerant JVC XV-N5, but surprisingly the DVD-writer (PC) did recognise it. So I could re-format the DVD. Then I tried burning the same nrg-image on the same DVD/RW with RecordNow Max, with succes. I don't know yet if it was luck.

Question: is this problem a known issue? Is the cause a hardware problem, a software problem or combination? Who knows a solution?

    Tnx!

  2. I still have this problem also with my HP200j DVD Burner . I use RecordNow. No media found........
I tried formatting the disk after it was burned. An amazing discovery. 50% of the discs succeeds after formatting the discs afterwards

Hopes this helps for you, although no 100% is guaranteed. I am still looking for a proper solution myself
