I was doing some video capturing experiments this evening and found that I had a 2 gig recording limit. I'm aware that older versions of Windows had this limit, but I thought this limit had been eliminated for newer versions of Windows, such as XP.
Am I stuck with this limit, or is there a setting I need to change on my HD to get rid of the limit?

File size limit is not in the OS, but in the file system used on the storage device (HDD?)
FAT32 has a 4 GB limit. I think Video DVD has a 2 GB lilit - probably your capturing soft decides not to go above this?

The 2 Gb is the "legacy" AVI file limit. Older versions of capture s/w I've used had this limit. Newer versions write the file in a slightly different format that can write long files.
If your capture device (capture card ?) has WDM or VFW drivers, there are other programs you can use to capture. Preferably, you should be using at least DirextX 8.1 and WDM capture drivers. If so, VirtualDUB, Mainconcept or other programs can be used to capture to AVI.The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.
