I just started using CCE-SP and got this error. Trying to use multi-pass VBR. I successfully did this with another file previously but now I'm getting this error.

Anybody know what I could be doing wrong?

  2. I didnt' think CCE supported VAF files, on second thought, what is a VAF file... try opening in g-spot to see if it's just a badly name avi, or use avisynth to serve it to cce.

CCE creates the VAF file. All I did was add my AVI file to the project and hit ENCODE. It should have created my VAF file and then use that to create my encoded M2V file (3-pass VBR). But I got that error instead.

  4. well I guess that just proves that I'm a moron. can anybody else help him out, I admit CCE is not my strong suit.

    tito13kfm,

I appreciate the response. I wasn't too clear on how I got the error either. I did try and load my AVI file into G-spot to see if I was missing any codecs but none missing (that it mentioned). I do have CCE-Basic and CCE-SP installed at the same time, wonder if this may have a conflict?

Error code 2 means file not found. If the the file indeed exists, I can't help.
If the the file doesn't exist, check if:
    1) the directory is writeable (i.e. it exists and is not read/write protected)
    2) enough space is avail. on this disk
    3) you checked create vaf in the video dialog

    Dragonsf,

"Yes" to all of those. The folder/file/drive are all there and access able, and are not write/or read protected. When you select "muli-pass" a VAF file is already created (the option is default). It's as if when I hit ENCODE, the program tries to create and select the VAF at the same time. I tried this with an older AVI file I had on my computer and it worked just fine. Any ideas? SaSi....Adam....DJRumpy....?

ps. it never does create the VARFfile...except in the case that it worked with the older AVI file. By "older" I mean it was created a few months ago vs. just last week.

  8. when it tries to make the vaf, hit cancel. it should go straight to the 3 pass encode.

    1. make sure you always select "create new file" in the multipass VBR seting box.

    2. in the output box , third box down (greyed out checked "video information file") change the path to C:\temp.vaf

  10. not sure this will help, but since you already have cce, try to use dvd2svcd, which automates the process of converting a dvd or avi to whatever your final result is.

    kenshin himura, BJ_M,

Thanks for the reply, but none of that worked or I've already done that.

    macleod,

I'm not making an SCVD. I wouldn't think I would need to use dvd2svcd in order to get CCE to work. I would prefer to not use it.

  12. it actually automates the conversion to:
VCD,SVCD,XVCD,XSVCD,CVD (standard and non-standard), and DVD resolutions, bit rates, and audio.

The name IS a little misleading.
