  1. Help please.

I extracted the dat from a VCD to my hard drive using VCD Gear no problem.

The MPEG is on my Harddrive. it is 1 hour 22 minutes in length. But when I try to burn it to a VCD, only 27 minutes will burn.

    I'm stumped!

    Help please!

  2. What you have basically done is that you have taken a video which is 82 minutes long from a 800Mb CD. And what you are trying to do is to burn the same movie on a CD-R of less than 800 Mb size.

Just buy a CD-r of 800Mb to get the job done. It is simple. Remember the rule that 1Minutes of mpg equals 10 Mbs of space.

    Rock on

And a 700 MB cdr will fit 800 MB of data when burned as a VCD so there is no reason to buy 800 MB discs.

cem1701 what are you using to author and burn the VCD, and why have you extracted the file to your hard drive rather than just doing a disc copy.
If the file is 82 minutes long it will need to be overburned to fit on a 700MB disc. Providing your burner supports overburning it should just about fit ok.

  4. Thanks...but I knew that.

When you try to add a mpeg file into Nero to burn a VCD that is longer than 80 minutes, the bar at the bottom of nero goes the whole way to the right, past the 80 minute mark, and Nero tells you that your disk is not big enough (in this case I would be OK, because I can ovr-burn the 2 minutes).

When I try to add this MPEG into Nero to burn the disc, it will only add the first 22 minutes...thats it... the bar only goes to twenty minutes...no warning....nothing.

I have never seen anything like this and I am not exactly new to this.

    Any help is appreciated!

  5. Ok, the reason that I extracted it to my hard drive is this ----

I have never seen anything like this...

I got a VCD from someone and it is the weirdest VCD I've ever seen...it is black on the bottom like a Playstation game. But I know it is not a retail manufactured VCD because the sticker on it is just a cheap printer print out.

Well, every time I try to copy it, it errors.

I tried copying the avseq01.dat off of the disc onto my hard drive to just burn it that way....it errors 1/2 way through the copy.

So I tried extracting the mpeg using VCDeasy...I get the MPEG that is 1:22 in length.

When I go to use nero (or EZ Cd creator) to burn it, it only will load 22 minutes into the template to burn.

This thing is the strangest thing I have every encountered doing this sort of stuff.

    Please help!

    Thanks!

  6. That is strange and I cannot really think of what to suggest, except from see if it will open ok in tmpgenc and reencode it with a standard VCD template. Then try authoring it with nero. You will suffer some quality loss due to reencoding but its better than nothing.

What are the file details, resolution bitrate etc, is it a standard compliant vcd file.

  7. I tired tmpgenc...it just freezes up.

    I'm stumped.

  8. Does the raw mpg file play OK in Media Player, and if so does it play the full length?

Did you try TMPGenc MPEG Tools to Demux / Remux. Sometimes that will work.

If you can get hold of M1Edit that has a Re-Packetise tool that will fix most MPEG1 files.

Try extracting the MPEG with Isobuster
