I have ripped about 300 movies from dvd to mpg. I use smart ripper, dvd2avi and tmpgenc. I ripped a dvd today that is giving me problems. I have great vob files. (that I have checked out by renaming them to.mpg) in order to see that I got them ripped out completely. (each vob/mpg file plays fine. I renamed them back to .vob and run them thru the dvd2avi program and am getting my usuall .d2v file and ac3 wave. I check the wav and it plays fine. Then I load the d2v file and the wav files in tmpgenc and encode as always. The end result is a great picture with a NO sound what-so-ever on the whole movie. I double check to see the wav is staying loaded in tmpgenc and it shows that it is there and encoding it also. I Have a total file size of 783mgs. so I know that sound is there or believe it to be. I have checked out my plugins and codecs and all are working fine. I thought it was something with my set up and procedure, so I ripped another dvd the way I have described above and that dvd worked fine with a great sound quality .mpg. This tells me that I am doing things ok and that there is nothing wrong with my choice of programs /codecs to rip with. So I went a step farther and tried to rip the problem dvd with , herosoft/ dvd x copy/ vcd easy/ and even dvd shrink. I get the same problem with any of the programs I try. NO sound. Yet the sound is there when I que up just the sound file (wav). Someway I am losing the sound in the encoding part of this. Does anyone have any suggestions/ codecs to try/ different program. or something I might have overlooked. The problem dvd is The osbournes season 1 uncensored.dvd
I am open to try just about anything to get this now as it becomes an obsession with me when I can't get them.
Thank you all for taking time to read this, I tried to give you all the info on it that I have and what I have tried.
I hope to hear from some of you great rippers out there soon.
Thanks Modartist![]()

Are you ripping the right audio track, because some movies have a silent audio track on them.

I am ripping the right audio track as it plays fine by itself, I am getting track 1 for english. That is a good idea though, I will try goldwave and see if that helps out saving as another type of .wav. thanks for that suggestion .
