  1. The good old TMPGEnc rev 12a: I have been using this to convert DV video to MPEG-2 (NTSC 720X480). I had a template for MPEG-2 DVD.
Last weekend, I use it to convert 2 hour DV video to MPEG-2 (CBR 4200 kbits/sec) and the strange thing is the MPEG-2 file has the 720-570 resolution, so my DVD authoring software does not like this MPEG-2 file !!! I check the template, it's say 720 x 480.
Can someone tell me what's wrong ?
[besides telling me that I should get the most recent TMPGEnc]
    Thank you

  2. Have you used this combination before successfully?

  3. Yes, I used it before successfully. I also found my problem.
The template DOES NOT save the "Video only" setting. that's what I need.
I accidentally select "Video (system)" instead and that causes TMPGEnc to generate 720x570 resolution for NTSC !!!

  4. You should be able to make your changes and then "Save-As" new Template. That might make it easier for your next encoding session.

  5. Ahh... good old 12A... a little slower than the rest but it was the last legal fully free unlimited hi quality MPEG-2 encoding solution. However not too much has changed. I still have a copy of that for old time sake!

  6. Yes, the 2 versions of TMPGenc I have are 12a and 2.56 (2.506 ??). The early version is about 25% slower than 2.56 but is useful to have. More recent versions of TMPG are optimised for NTSC so don't interest me at all. We'll have to wait and see what version 3 offers us.
